Building Technologies Research and Integration Center (BTRIC), in the Energy & Transportation Science Division (ETSD), focuses on research, development, and deployment of energy efficient technologies in support of the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) goal of zero energy homes by 2020 and zero energy commercial buildings by 2025. BTRIC focuses on four main areas: 1) research and development of new materials, components and systems technologies for energy efficiency in buildings, 2) whole-building and community integration (energy efficiency, renewable energy, and to grid), 3) improved energy management in existing buildings and industrial facilities during their operational phase, and 4) market transformations from old to new in all of these areas.
The WBDG is the only web-based portal providing government and industry practitioners with one-stop access to up-to-date information on a wide range of building-related guidance, criteria and technology from a 'whole buildings' perspective. Currently organized into three major categories—Design Guidance, Project Management and Operations & Maintenance—at the heart of the WBDG are Resource Pages, reductive summaries on particular topics.
DOE’s overarching mission is to advance the national, economic, and energy security of the United States; to promote scientific and technological innovation in support of that mission; and to ensure the environmental cleanup of the national nuclear weapons complex. The Department's strategic goals to achieve the mission are designed to deliver results along five strategic themes: Energy Security, Nuclear Security, Scientific Discovery and Innovation, Environmental Responsibility, Management Excellence.
Use of the Infrared Camera in many aspects the Building and Science world is steadily increasing and has opened up the world we see and work with on a daily basis.
